Chemical products manufacturer optimises shipping processes with TIMOCOM
Unbreakable and solid in logistics business
Erkrath, Germany, 2017-03-20 - Concrete has become an essential building material in modern life. Robust, long-lasting and versatile, the concrete and mortar admixtures are produced, among others, by Bauchemie Müller GmbH & Co. KG. Lars Laskowski, Logistics Manager of MC-Bauchemie, made the most of his visit to the TIMOCOM headquarters in January and explained the effort behind logistics to provide customers with their products.
TIMOCOM complements fixed freight forwarding partners
Whether the "Taiwan High Speed Rail", the award winning Szczecin Philharmonic or the famous Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro: each of these spectacular constructions have required the use or curing of concrete, including the concrete admixtures and repair systems, developed, manufactured and supplied by MC-Bauchemie.
In addition to research and development as well as production, MC-Bauchemie has made the transport logistics company its core competence, "so that orders reach our customers in the desired time and quality," says the Logistics Manager Lars Laskowski. MC-Bauchemie mainly cooperates with freight forwarding companies for the transportation of liquid and powder materials. However, the loading of the vehicles as well as the routes are planned by the in-house planning department: "We organise and plan both part loads and full loads for projects and constructions sites - or when we restock our storage." This makes a volume of 500 to 600 tonnes per day and around 120,000 tonnes per year. For those orders that cannot be transported by the standard daily rhythm, MC-Bauchemie uses the transport service providers in the spot-market. In such cases, the planning and shipping department uses, among others, TIMOCOM's transport platform. "Our head of department jumped for joy shortly after logging in. He could not believe that 30 seconds after he entered the load, the phone wouldn't stop ringing", says Laskowski, describing his personal experience with TIMOCOM.
Considerable cost optimising
MC-Bauchemie has already carried out numerous national and international transports with the transport platform achieving, thereby, significant savings. The price, however, is not the decisive factor when using the transport platform. "Outstanding quality, stable and realistic service commitments and flexible solutions customer oriented, alongside standard solutions are the key to a good customer relationship", explains Laskowski.
Nevertheless, Laskowski points out that, the platform cannot and should not substitute the internal planning department nor already established partners. MC-Bauchemie uses TIMOCOM mainly to solve special transport needs.
"The TIMOCOM platform is the perfect solution for these situations: it helps companies react flexibly to new market and customer requirements, without jeopardising existing processes", clarifies Gunnar Gburek, TIMOCOM's Company Spokesman.
Thanks to the feedback from customers such as MC-Bauchemie, TIMOCOM would like to orientate the transport platform even more towards digital transport procurement in the future.
