Beyond the borders of Europe

Erkrath, Germany 2016-07-15 – A delegation from China, on a visit to view cargo transport centres across Europe, simply cannot miss a visit to TimoCom, Europe's largest transport platform and a true highlight of the trip. This was immediately clear to the eleven delegation members when planning their trip, as they first became aware of TimoCom's activities. And so the government delegation visited TimoCom's company headquarters in Erkrath, Germany, at the end of June, spending the afternoon behind the scenes at TimoCom.

From China, across Europe, to Erkrath

The government delegation had already visited cargo transport centres in London, Amsterdam and Munich in order to understand how road transport, inland shipping and rail transport work together. The delegation discovered TimoCom while still in China, as they were looking for a trustworthy European transport platform. Transport optimisation and vehicle utilisation are important topics in China right now. It was not long before the delegation were certain that they needed to stop in Erkrath to visit TimoCom.

They arrived on Monday, the 20th of June 2016. The eleven delegation members were welcomed to the TiComplex by TimoCom Chief Representative Marcel Frings and his assistant, Nadine Reutersberg. They began the visit with a tour of TimoCom's four-story headquarters. After introducing each department and area of responsibility, Marcel Frings reported on the successful history of TimoCom, the leading freight exchange on the European market. The guests were very interested, right from the beginning. As such, they were very attentive to the explanations provided by the company representative. In the marketing department, Frings discussed the many different cultures represented not just by TimoCom's customers, but also by internal employees. He then led the delegation through the IT department, which strives to continually develop and optimise the transport platform for customer use. Once they had visited all the floors and departments, the eleven delegation members took a relaxing break in the company restaurant 'Timos Esszimmer', and listened with interest as Marcel Frings presented the TimoCom portfolio. In addition to the freight exchange, cost calculation and tracking solutions, the business directory and tendering feature for regular freight assignments, the guests from China were particularly interested in the warehousing exchange. Once the presentation was over, the delegation asked a variety of questions regarding TimoCom's development, target groups, and the key to their success.

Once all their questions were answered, the visit was over, but impressions of the day lingered. Frings' impression: "That will not be our last conversation. They seem to have a great deal of interest in TimoCom for their own transportation needs."

This extraordinary visit shows that TimoCom is more than just a freight exchange; it unites continents above and beyond the existing work space and geographical borders.
