TimoCom customers' experience with the up- and download feature

Last and this year's resolution

(4)

Erkrath, Germany, 2016-01-04 – Europe's largest transport platform made an especially important resolution last year: to equip the platform with even more digital added value. Said and done. Since last September over 36,000 customers have been able to use the up- and download feature for documents.

The IT service provider's plan with this feature was to pave the way for digitalised work and help users optimise their processes. With the up- and download feature, users can upload frequently requested documents, which are necessary for transports, and make them available for other users of the platform to download.  Several thousands of documents have already been uploaded on the transport platform since the feature was released. One of the first companies that quickly recognised the advantages of this new feature was the freight forwarder Kellershohn from Lindlar, Germany. The new feature is convincing, it does not only simplify processes but also contributes significantly to the protection of the environment. "Sustainability is of great importance to us. Our principle is: logistics for people and environment. If you consider that we receive up to 32 single sided documents daily, this makes around 1000 pages of paper per month. We must also bear in mind that a document may be of various pages, such as a good in transit insurance document. That is a lot of paper. This is why we prefer business partners that make their documents available to download in digital form", explains the General Manager Willi Kellershohn.

Time is money

"I wish I could stop time", is a sentence that everyone has said at some point. This is a special power that everyone involved in the transport and logistics industry would love to have, because time is probably the most precious asset. Jody Dal Ferro, planner at the family company Dal Ferro Trasporti in Italy, also knows this: "In the past we received via fax or email at least four documents after closing a deal. Sometimes they weren't even complete or the attachment was too big and we had to chase them up. That took up time and energy. With this feature we hardly have this problem anymore. Many partners have wondered at the beginning why a small company puts so much emphasis on digitalisation. Whoever wants to stay in the market has to move with the times."

Europe's largest transport platform also wants to move with the times. For 2017 there will be yet another new feature, with which customers will receive support with regard to process optimisation and digitalised work. This will be presented in the middle of the year.
