Erkrath, Germany 2018-03-16 – The TimoCom transport platform continued to grow in the fiscal year 2017. With 90.7 million freight and vehicle offers (2016: 68.3 million), the IT company from Erkrath reached a new record for the number of offers placed online. Around 1.4 billion tons of freight were listed on the platform in Europe in 2017.

The number of users that process their transport offers digitally using the platform also continued to increase as compared to last year, to more than 127,000 (2016: 110,000). The company, which was founded in 1997, saw its turnover climb from 5.7 million to 67.9 million Euro in 2017: the best results in company history. The IT service provider now has over 40,000 customers (2016: 36,000).

TimoCom Company Spokesman Gunnar Gburek believes that these developments are driven by the continuing favourable economic conditions and increasing digitalisation of the transport and logistics industry in both Germany and Europe. “Freight forwarders, and industry and trade, can use our platform to find the right transport partner with just a few clicks of a mouse - and the same is true in reverse. More and more customers are using the IT solutions offered by our platform to react flexibly to a variety of transport challenges, allowing them to run their business more efficiently”, says Gburek.

For example, in 2017 TimoCom expanded the transport platform’s offerings with the TC Transport Order® application. This application allows companies to present their transport request to several transport service providers at the same time, request prices and assign orders - without any media disruptions. 12,900 transport orders have been sent since the product was introduced in July of 2017. These successful transport deals were completed via a ‘digital handshake’ for handling orders.

The number of telematics systems combined on the TimoCom transport platform was expanded by 30 in 2017, for a total of 230 providers. Customers also have the option of transferring and processing position data from short-term transport partners in their own transport management system, in order to increase service quality and customer satisfaction for transport orders. “We now offer all functions required for handling transport orders, in order to provide more transparency within the supply chain”, says Gburek, commenting on the continual development of the transport platform.

In order to provide room to grow, TimoCom will be extending their headquarters in Erkrath this summer. This location, and three additional locations in Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary will then house over 460 employees (2016: 400) from 34 nations, all working to improve Europe’s largest transport platform.
